A Labor Day Weekend Vacation

This past weekend we took a road trip to the Detroit area. We had a wonderful trip. We took our time and really had some low expectations of how it was all going to go. The kids really did well in the car. While riding, Hannah enjoyed checking out all of the cars and trucks, watching some DVDs, singing with mom and sleeping on the road. Ben was very quiet for most of the ride. The last hour he let his vocal cords go. We were able to visit with some of Jill's Dad's cousins, an old friend from Denver, and Jill's mom's side of the family at the wedding.

A Detroit Dream Park
We had a wonderful time having a picnic and letting Hannah run around the park. It was an awesome playground. But where did Hannah want to go first, the swing!

Ben's first swing ride with dad.

Where do I run to first?

Hannah is getting to be a great climber.

Swimming
Ben went swimming for the first time this weekend. He loved it.

All smiles after being in the water.

The Wedding
The reason we traveled so far was for Jill's cousin's wedding. Kyle and Lauren had a beautiful day. We had a great time hanging out with many people we have not seen in awhile. Hannah made it on the dance floor until about 10:30pm which is way past her bed time. And Ben had a great time checking out all the new surroundings.

Hannah fell asleep on the floor while Jill
was making her bed(the pull out couch).

Wide eyed at 10:30PM.

New Buffalo, Michigan
We needed to make stopped about every three hours for sure as Ben needed to feed. So we happened to pull off at New Buffalo, MI and was pleasantly surprised what we found. We found a harbor, beach, play structure, and a parking spot for Jill to watch it all while Ben fed. It was perfect for all of us to take a break from the drive.

Of course, the swings again!

Walking the beach.

Ben's first beach experience.

Watching the boats.

Legoland
Our last stop was in Schaumberg, IL where we had eyed up a Legoland on the way out to MI. We did not pay for the tour but just had fun roaming around the gift shop.

Lego guy just my size!

Hannah's favorite zoo animal is a giraffe.
So this was a hit.
She loved it that the giraffe had lipstick on. :-)
Hannah spent a good 15 minutes
playing in the binds of legos.
We could not get her away.

All smiles.

For being such a great traveler,
this was Hannah's treat.
